Niamh has been a qualified Chartered Physiotherapist for twenty years. Having obtained a degree in computers and french after school Niamh worked in the telecommunications industry for two years. It was during this time that Niamh realised she wanted to work to help people in the area of health care. Niamh went on to obtain an Honours degree of Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy in Trinity College Dublin. Niamh worked for four years in St Columcille’s hospital gaining many diverse skills as a physiotherapist such as Weight Management and Diabetes, Musculoskeletal, Respiratory, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Neurology, Orthopaedics and Geriatric Physiotherapy. Niamh also worked as the Head Team Physiotherapist for Bray Wanderers Senior Football Team for the previous two years attending training sessions and providing pitch sideline physiotherapy during matches. Niamh has also worked as team Physiotherapist for several Gaelic Football and Hurling teams in County Wicklow such as Rathnew GAA and Genealy Hurling Club. Niamh also worked as the team physiotherapist for Wanderers Rugby Club for two seasons attending matches and providing sideline and pre and post physiotherapy
It was her love of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy that brought her to Australia to work on the Northern New South Wales Coast in a large Physiotherapy and Sports Injuries Clinic for five years where she expanded her knowledge as a Sports and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and Clinical Pilates Instructor. Niamh also worked as team Physiotherapist for New South Wales Men’s Masters Hockey teams at the Australian National Championships where she worked with many Australian Olympic hockey players.
Niamh believes that sharing knowledge is the key to good health. Having gained a wide knowledge in many different area of physiotherapy and healthcare over the years Niamh believes education along with the latest evidence in physiotherapy techniques and exercise therapy is the key to empowering her clients to a better understanding of how to manage pain and overcome injuries. Niamh believes good health involves lifelong management she is a strong believer in exercise for both physical and mental health.
Niamh’s therapeutic treatment can utilise a number of treatment options in Physiotherapy such as Manual Mobilisations of the Spine and Peripheral joints, Muscle Energy Techniques, Western Acupuncture/Dry Needling, Clinical Pilates, General Strength and Conditioning,
